It has been said that all good fiction has grains of truth. Between these covers the knowledgeable reader will find sandy beaches.
This novel presents the first months in the story of a young American's unsure footsteps down a thirty-year path of intelligence gathering--and his first glimpse of a capitalist elite's brutal tactics to ensure their financial domination of America's and the world's political landscape.
The year 1959 marked the beginnings of many dark "executive orders" that would catapult the most free nation on earth into its most oppressed and despairing decades. That year also marked the beginning of a "resistance" determined to infiltrate and dismantle that brutal elite--and other monopolies such as communism--worldwide.
Were "the-men-in-washington-with-bad-woman's-mind" parlor planners out for corporate gain? An accusing finger is pointed at minds of the era, greedy for money and political power; they poisoned The American Dream and still threaten every American's concepts of freedom.

The twenty-five action-filled chapters contained in "The Kid From California In Havana" are politically incorrect; are for mature adult readers who can appreciate a running street-view of why, when and where The United States of America started going wrong.
DURING THE MID AND LATE 1950'S, a corrupt political hierarchy in Washington D.C. reaped enormous profits by supporting a Cuban leader named Fulgencio Batista and his organized crime associates. Fidel Castro's victory over Batista, in late December 1958, threatened that power-drunk D.C. Clique's economic tyranny. Another emerging threat was fellow Americans who saw themselves as a new breed of Democratic politician.
The Clique, (the sugar/banana boys...and the banker men behind them) decreed an obliteration of all this "annoyance" at one stroke by pouncing upon Fidel Castro's ousting as the main plank of their presidential platform. Their campaign was going well -- until the Clique's own heroic two-term president gave America's electorate the impression he did not support his party's candidate.
In a desperate attempt to win an election disastrous errors in judgement were made -- the Clique went so far as to institute assassination as a bona fide political solution.
Those conspirators lost that election, but their insidious lust to regain and hold power would murder and continue to pollute American principles for three more decades.
BY THE SPRING OF 1959, Fidel Castro's Secret Police had identified, expelled or arrested most of America's Intelligence presence in Cuba. This threw every U.S. Agency with operations south of Florida into shambles. Fidel and his cadre were very clever young men. Unfortunately, like that D.C. Clique, Castro and his followers were also suspicious of individual rights. By early March 1959, Cuba's "liberation" was understood to mean; "Kangaroo Courts and firing squads are continuing on as the island's way of life."
ABOUT THE SAME TIME, during the Spring of 1959, the U.S. State Department stumbled across a conveniently placed teenager in California named Harley Quinn. A few months later, during the Summer of 59, Castro's new government invited Quinn to Cuba. At first reluctant, Harley quickly discovered and accepted his secret destiny.
HAVANA WAS A SIMMERING CRUCIBLE of politics, international organized crime and Caribbean Black Magic. This made Quinn's first jobs as a spy/assassin, Primer lessons which became a diploma in violence, intrigue and compromise. Harley would also learn a most important factor in the game of espionage; to look with equal suspicion on his own people--from the fickle and sometimes nefarious pinnacles in The White House on down.

"Defense of the free world," America's Allies warned repeatedly after World War I, "will depend upon single individuals able to penetrate militant groups and live close to potential enemies for extended periods."
The United States did not heed those warnings and The Axis led by Adolph Hitler rose to power. The British call this penetration of an enemy camp Spying; the French term is Espionage.
Before and throughout World War II, America remained dependant upon its Allies, The Press and lone-wolf civilian patriots for Intelligence gathering -- a more respectable term for spying that would eventually be adopted by The United States.
After victory in Europe and The Pacific, the U.S military services crowned themselves unbeatable forces who would never again need to bow to lone-wolf personalities or listen to foreign advice.
They were wrong .... and they still have not figured out how to fix it!
By the late 1940's the military's elite teams began to fail in the struggle against both aggressive and insidious Communism. Grudgingly, The Armed Forces approved a new civilian-controlled intelligence clearing house.
That centralized authority became a Cold War committee subject to "sour grapes" power moves from The Pentagon and fluctuating policies by political "appointees". However, at "Central's" core a few seasoned patriots with strong democratic beliefs tried to balance incestuous competitive sways. It was a high tight-rope from which many staunch defenders of The U.S Constitution and its Bill of Rights fell to their deaths.
From Central's beginnings its hard core (a man named Jesus and another nicknamed 'Wild Bill'), began searching out those lone-wolves independent of the "pack's" hunger for gang power. The hunt for these Special People is one that listens constantly for Warriors with unique qualifications; individualism, social acceptability, amoral values and a love of danger.
Thrill-seekers who "spy" must take big risks where small errors mean capture and execution. If lucky enough to survive their first thrill they usually find their reward for success is greater danger and more likelihood of capture.
Spies have Handlers who receive their intelligence and give home-base directives. Handlers often become addicted to espionage and begin to see it as an intellectual parlor game which can fuel their political ambitions. In America's recent past that addiction led to illegal and immoral activities.
Handlers by nature are political animals, and such an animal's greatest fear is not being re-appointed or re-elected. For pack "PAC" incumbents election years are bad dreams -- but a spy who carried out questionable orders is a Handler's nightmare. After elections lost by incumbents, death sentences in the name of National Security have often been the fate of American patriots ruthlessly "outed" by enemies of freedom who wield power from within.
To stay alive, the lone warrior must walk in the shifting sands which lie between politics and honor. The few who still live are all wily patriots who understand Handlers. Handlers are manipulated manipulators who can never be trusted due to their lack of respect for truth and honorable men...and their envy of lone wolves.

I grew up with Loggers, Cowboys and Indians in the space and freedom of the Great Northwest where belief in the virtues of the United States Constitution seemed to rule the nation. My first realities of Americans being manipulated came with employment in Havana, Cuba in 1959.
It was a different America I found outside the control of a U.S.media ruled by federal and military agencies fed...like hogs at the trough...by large post-war monopolies. But I had heard rumblings of discontent before from my "friend-of-all-friends", a jewish Choctaw warrior called Ike.
It did not take more than a few months for me to realize that U.S media were painting a picture of reality which twisted fact in order to use the songs of freedom for those interested only in money and power.
For over half a century the American public has lived under The Mushroom System -- "keep them in the dark and if they raise their heads throw more manure on them to shut them up."
At various points in time, it seems, the supreme court has "through means politically legalized" reserved The Constitution, The Emancipation Proclamation, determination of presidential elections and The American Dream in favor of corporate america. (Most recently, via "citizens united" they may have unknowingly pierced the corporate veil.) anybody listening?
THE RIGHTEOUS FIGHT TO GAIN INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS for everyone began in earnest during the late 1950's; John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, Malcolm X and others challenged those powers willing to lie, cheat and murder to win. Many more patriots insisting on individual and racial freedom were killed quietly in the shadows and others...even today... remain locked away as criminals.
If we forget, the future will never know, and contemporary disasters like Waco, Ruby Ridge, and Wounded Knee, to name a few, will continue to be justified through enforced silence. (Standing Rock!)
"National Security" (now dubbed "public safety" by the dirty birds of "law enforcement" ) has always been a ready excuse for government excesses, but, as time and the U.S. freedom of information act is allowed to probe deeper into dirty bird domains, we find that term was, more often than not, used dishonestly to cover murderous indiscretions of authority. This is disgusting in a nation of men and women who see themselves as free. When freedom's enemies, from within and outside, have always had full and easy access to government secrets, why jail and torture our own Patriots for revealing to the US public (always the last to know) the ugliness of power gone wrong?
In the 1980's The Press and most other media were openly purchased by "advertising" or foreign entities intent on capturing political dollars and "entertaining" the public all the way to the poorhouse...and then on to the silence of the grave.
Are our senses being dulled by meaningless sensationalism and control of content as they were during the early and mid 1950's? YES!
Look, listen, and by all means remain suspicious of corporate news, your local, state and federal politicians, law enforcement and other un-elected appointed agencies...they may feel... like the Nazis...they have been given "a mandate of authority" to rule instead of serve the citizenry.*
The 2nd Amendment in the US Constitution was put there to protect Americans from any armed, abusive or threatening force...including protection from U.S. Government entities bent on entrapment, brutality, murder, lying or violation of any individual right that will enforce their "authority"....or cover up incompetence and monumental errors in judgement.
